The Week Ahead

Greeting Wildcat Families!

Our Football journey is about to begin this Monday 8/10. Doubles practice will be held M,8/10- F,8/14 with 8/15 being our Black & Silver intersquad scrimmage, located at the West Turf at 8am. Freshmen will start then, JV/V will begin about 9:30. After our scrimmage there will be a program picnic at the field with a bunch of activities for players and families to be involved in, but most importantly FOOD!

Note: Doubles practices are necessary to get the required numbers of practices in to meet the state rules for playing other opponents (i.e. Bloomfield Hills on the 20th). Nobody likes the long days, especially the coaches but alas we must do them. Good thing is every program in the state does them as well.

Required Equipment:

Monday and Tuesday are helmet only practices so the kids can leave their shoulder pads and lower stuff at home. Please bring your own water bottle, cleats, and sunscreen. Mouth guards are required and will be expected of each player to have. If you need, I have mouth guards available, however it’s not necessary for them to be distributed by us. If you buy your own, please no clear mouthguards, they should be visible and referees will hold us to having the kids have them in during play. of gamesThe Staff and I will be on the kids to have them in while involved with any contact during practices.

Meal preparation for break:

You will need to plan for your player to bring food or snacks for their break between practices. Please press on the players to have something they bring because having a meal dropped off is complicated, since we try to get back into the AC for break. We will have quick stuff like granola bars but generally not enough to provide for a whole team.

Acclimatization rules:

Per state mandate, any player must go through this period at the start of their season:

  • 2 days of just a helmet
  • 2 days of Helmets and Shoulder pads
  • On the fifth initial day of practice participation the player can practice with full pads, and hitting is allowed during drills with 30 mins of collision level contact permitted (i.e. full game speed)

Scheduled time of practice:

  • Freshmen: 4:30-9 break between 6-7
  • JV/V: Report/lift, 2:30p
    • Film/chalk talk, 3:25
    • Transition outside, 4:00
    • Begin practice, 4:30
    • Break, 6:00
    • Begin practice 2, 7:00
    • End day, 9:00

Who Can Participate?

This event is intended to celebrate the special bond between our players and the important role models in their lives. If a player’s father isn’t able to attend, we encourage them to invite another supportive adult—such as a grandfather, stepfather, uncle, older brother, family friend, or mentor—to join the fun.

Whether you’re an experienced golfer or have never swung a club, this event is all about spending time together, meeting other Wildcats families, and kicking off the 2026 football season with some friendly competition.

Black and Silver Picnic – Saturday, August 15

We need volunteers for the Black & Silver picnic, such as providing and setting up tables, snacks, coolers, etc. See the email sent on July 28 from the booster club for the link to sign up.

Game Day Player Drink and Snack Donations

Separate from the game day volunteer tasks, we ask each family to sign up for two (2) game day player drink and snack donation slots. We supply players with drinks and snacks at each game (Varsity at halftime; JV & Freshman after the game). This is only possible because of donations from our families. Due to limited storage space we will have 2 drop off dates for this season donations:

  • Drop off #1 – Saturday, August 16th (At the Black & Silver Picnic)
  • Drop off #2 – Tuesday, September 1st at the Booster Club Meeting at 6:30 pm at PHS (room TBD).

See the email sent on July 28 from the booster club for the link to sign up.

Team Moms Needed!

(If you have already volunteered to be a Team Mom, our apologies! We need to update our records. Just let us know!)

Grub Crawl

This should be a big fundraiser for our football team. However, for that to happen, we need help from all of you! Please consider these things:

  • We are asking every football family to donate a gift card. Any denomination is great! We are going to build a gift card tree that will be the grand prize of the event. You can drop off the gift card at the Black & Silver picnic.
  • Donate a basket for the basket raffle. Or ask a local business to donate a basket. Or donate some items that we could put together for a basket!
  • Talk to your son about volunteering to help with the event. We will need players to make this a success!
  • Join us and bring friends and family!

We will start the afternoon at The Post Local Bistro, where we have reserved the back patio for our group. This will be our “home base,” where all participants will check in upon arrival and receive a goodie bag. At the end of the event, this is where we will have the basket raffle, the 50/50 raffle and the gift tree winner. We will also be providing free pizza and breadsticks to everyone.

We have 4 other stops on the grubcrawl. They are:

  • The Penn
  • Sean O’Callaghans
  • Arbor Brewing Company
  • EG Nicks

Here is what you can expect at each stop:

  • Upon arrival at each location, one card will be distributed to every participant by our athletes.
  • They will be stationed either outside the front door or at a table right inside the front door.
  • There will be specials at each stop for our participants.

After stopping at all the locations and returning to the Post, each participant will have 5 cards. At the end of the event, the participant that has the best poker hand will win the grand prize of the gift card tree!

We have also partnered with the Bartisan for “Overtime at the Bartisan” following the event. They are also going to have specials and a live DJ so we can continue the fun!

The early bird cost will be $40 per person. This will increase to $50 after August 1. All participants will receive the specials at each stop, a goodie bag filled with Plymouth swag, 5 basket raffle tickets and pizza and breadsticks at the end of the event.
